An update about The Hoops
(24/03/26)
You may have noticed that repair works have started at The Hoops. Michael Kerr, the owner, has leased the property and his property agent is in the process of getting clarification on whether the freehold is still for sale. The new tenant, Parvez Khan, will contact the village directly when he’s ready to introduce himself, share his ideas, and invite input from residents. Parvez has looked at the Save The Hoops website and is taking into consideration what the village have said they want. His architect has visited the site to start the process of designing an extension to the restaurant and proposed shop. He will also be trimming the hedge and has checked for nests.
Until there is clarity on the property’s ownership status, the Save The Hoops campaign is still active and will carry on its remit to ensure that the property stays as a pub/restaurant for generations to come.
We also want to recognise the incredible effort that everyone in the village put into the Save The Hoops campaign. From the 80 brilliant testimonials submitted for the Asset of Community Value (ACV) reapplication, to the £160,000 pledged in under a month, the response was extraordinary. Your support demonstrated just how much The Hoops means to this community.
The successful ACV reapplication means the property now has protection for the next five years. When that period ends, we will need to apply again to maintain this status and ensure continued protection.
Thank you again for your energy, commitment, and belief in what The Hoops can be for the village.

Protecting our last village pub — together
The final of four pubs in the Eversdens, The Hoops is at risk of being sold off for housing.
We have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to buy the freehold, protect the building, and reopen it as a thriving, multi-use community hub.
This is our chance to secure a warm, welcoming space for families, walkers, cyclists, remote workers, and neighbours of all ages.

Become part of village history,
help us buy The Hoops
Pledging tells us how much you might invest when the community share offer opens.
It is not a commitment, but it strengthens our bid, unlocks grant funding, and proves that the village wants its pub back.
A community‑owned pub
with a bigger purpose
The Hoops will become a flexible, multi‑use venue designed around the needs of the village. This is more than a pub — it’s a social, cultural, and economic anchor for the Eversdens.
It has so much potential:
Traditional Pub
Restaurant / café (including afternoon tea)
Secure child-friendly garden
Bike racks and water refill station
Retail space / village shop
Daytime hot-desking
How we'll make The Hoops work
The Purchase
Subject to valuations and contractor quotes, we aim to raise £600,000 to buy and refurbish the freehold.
The building will be owned by a Community Benefit Society (CBS) with an asset lock and democratic voting.
The Timeline
